Ann Bacon Spooner received her Master’s in Social Work from Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research in 1974. She is a licensed practitioner in the state of PA. Ann also completed a two-year certification program in Biblical Counseling from the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation. Ann joined the staff of the Peacemaker Center in May 2007. She has maintained a private practice in Philadelphia since 1977.
Ann is particularly passionate about helping those who have suffered sexual abuse and equipping churches to do the same. Ann does individual, marriage, pre-marriage and family counseling. She is experienced in helping blended families. She enjoys working with women who are struggling with life transitions or depression, and adults who grew up with a physically or psychologically absent parent.
Ann’s main desire to help people discover how to apply the grace of God practically to the details of their lives and to grow in their intimacy with God. One of her favorite quotes is: “God is most glorified in me when I am most satisfied in Him” (John Piper). She enjoys watching people discover the depths of God’s love and the security that comes when we allow Him to be the “anchor of our soul” (Hebrews). In the midst of painful circumstances, Ann rejoices when she sees God doing “incredibly more than we can ask or imagine” (Ephesians).
Ann is married to her husband of more than 35 years and has two adult children.
